Diagnostic Test Supervisor

Job brief

The supervisor will oversee day to day operations of the In-Vitro Diagnostics department and the Veterinary Lab Department. The individual will be responsible for scheduling manufacturing operations, managing quality system processes, ensuring compliance and regulatory standards, and serve as a point of communication between internal teams and external customers. Additionally, the individual will need to understand how a macELISA is performed and assist in troubleshooting issues to support new product or process development. The supervisor will ensure timely deliverables and maintain a high standard of quality.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:  

  • Develop and manage weekly/ monthly schedules for manufacturing.  
  • Manage deviations, CAPAs, change controls, Our of Limits, Out of Specification, Out of Tolerance and other quality assurance measures pertaining to the department, along with continued monitoring of department and equipment conditions to assure continued production and initiating repairs or replacements when necessary.   
  • Be able to effectively communicate progress updates with manager, director and leaders of other departments.  
  • Supervise, mentor, and train staff to ensure adherence to procedures and high-quality output.  
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer updates, ensuring timely and accurate communication  
  • Collaborate with Process Development personnel, supervisor or affiliate lab technicians on technical issues as needed.  
  • Have the ability to troubleshoot ELISA assays and assist in the vet lab when needed.  
  • Communicate with the Customer Service Specialists to ensure successful completion of administrative tasks associated with the macELISA component supply to affiliate laboratories.  
  • Has the ability to motivate, challenge, and discipline direct reports effectively.  
  • Additional responsibilities will include the monitoring of department metrics and implementation of innovative projects to ensure compliance and continuous improvements.  

 

Requirements

Education Requirements 

This position requires the following minimum education: 

  • Bachelors degree in life sciences or related field (or equivalent experience)  

Work Experience Requirements 

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing setting, or pharmaceutical operations; supervisory experience preferred.  

  • Strong understanding of quality systems, including deviations, CAPAs, and change controls  

  • Good organizational skills  

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment  

  • Ability to understand and follow current Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Computer Skill(s) 

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer 

  • knowledge such as Word Processing and Database software as well as JDEdwards or equivalent inventory software. 

     

     

     

    Additional Skill(s): 

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is required to understand and comply with universal precautions for general laboratory safety, and to handle and use hazardous chemicals and biological materials in a responsible manner. 

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, linear regression and statistical analyses. 

  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as absorbance data calculations, standard curve assessments, determinations of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques and factor analysis.
